Supply of Commercial Consultancy Services for the Unidoodle project to Maynooth University

Maynooth University requires a commercially experienced business innovator, with a background in EdTech, to lead WP 2 and ultimately be part of the team that brings Unidoodle to market. UniDoodle (www.unidoodle.com) is a unique multi-platform smart student response system that allows educators to obtain instant, highly relevant insight into how students actually solve problems, thus enabling high quality feedback for students and significantly improving their learning experience. We have trialled this system [1, 2] over the past few years resulting in 4 journal and 6 conference publications to date, a strong endorsement of the value of this work within the education sector. To date, with very little effort on our part, we have over 100 individual trial users (at instructor level) worldwide, all from within the same niche market. However, while the current version of UniDoodle is now a valued tool for our modest international group of users, we believe it can be developed technically and commercially to assist many educators in their work. While other student response systems are well established, and can automatically grade text submissions or multiple-choice questions, none have tried to innovate when it comes to freehand drawing, which is crucial in subjects such as chemistry and engineering, etc. We developed a machine learning system that is capable of automatically identifying correct and incorrect freehand drawings, something none of our competitors offer. This gives UniDoodle a significant advantage particularly in large classrooms, and there is enormous potential to apply the technology to several disciplines.
