Wealden District Council is seeking quotations to represent the Council as Local Planning Authority (LPA) in defence of a refusal of planning permission. The LPA require: a. Professional assistance on planning, highway, drainage and Habitat Regulation matters b. Casework management, including submission of proofs of evidence and attendance at a public inquiry as expert witness c. Liaison with Counsel d. Liaison with the LPA Head of Service (or the Development Manager) to ensure the case advanced for the members of the planning committee, is being correctly pitched. For the avoidance of doubt, this case involves an appeal wherein the professional officer recommendation was for approval. That was rejected and an overturn decision issued by the committee. The LPA is issuing a quote document for defence of the appeal as its experienced and senior officers are all bound by the RTPI Professional code of conduct. They cannot, therefore, "make or subscribe to any statements or reports which are contrary to their own bona fide professional opinions".
