Lower Lee (Cork City) Drainage Scheme – Invasive Species Advance Treatment Stage 3

Tender description

The Office of Public of Works (OPW) has commissioned Arup in conjunction with JBA Consulting to develop a flood relief scheme for Cork City. Invasive plant species have been identified at sites along the River Lee and River Bride where flood relief works are proposed. The flood relief works along the River Lee extend from the Inniscarra Dam to Custom House Quay at the eastern extent of the city’s central island. The flood relief works along the River Bride extend from Blackpool Village upstream as far as the Glennamought Stream. The landscape of the proposed works sites along the river range from open farmland to a built up urban areas adjacent to a number of industrial, retail and residential centres as well as roads and parks. The OPW intends to engage a competent Contractor for a duration of three years to carry out treatment of invasive plant species contained within the extents of the works area and invasive species in close proximity to the works area, in advance of the commencement of the main works contract.
