Summary of the work Perform survey of existing wireless coverage, and provide advice on relocating existing access points, upgrading access points to provide better coverage in existing locations and/or installation of new access points to fill areas with no existing coverage. Internal only, outside areas not in scope. Latest start date Thursday 30 June 2022 Budget Range Anticipating anywhere between free site survey and several days labour charges. Why the Work is Being Done Review of existing wireless network installation with the goal of improving coverage. Problem to Be Solved Inconsistent wireless network coverage. Who Are the Users Scientists and scientific support staff. Wireless network access required for organisation supplied devices e.g. laptops, and BYOD equipment. Work Already Done Existing wireless network of approximately 37 Dell branded Aruba Instant Access Points. Existing Team In-house (full time) on-site IT Systems Support Team Current Phase Not started Skills & Experience • Perform a wireless site survey • Produce a report of recommendations and follow them up if requested Nice to Haves • Complete the survey in one day • Produce the report within a week of the survey Work Location Harwell Science Campus, near Chilton, South Oxfordshire, OX11 0RD Working Arrangments On-site survey. Building (and site) access is restricted, so survey team will need to be accompanied at all times. Security Clearance Site access will be restricted to by appointment only, and survey team will need to be accompanied at all times. No. 3. Does the authority have an accurate building floor plan overlaid with the accurate location of the current existing Wi-Fi access points? Yes. 4. What is the building location footprint in terms of square feet or square metres that the Wi-Fi systems covers, or should cover? Ground floor approx. 2,000m sq., first floor approx. 2,000m sq.
