Upgrade Duncreggan Student Village Heating

Tender description

The Contract is for the provision of the following works at the Duncreggan Student Village, Magee Campus of the Ulster University. Duncreggan student village in Magee campus consists of three student residential blocks, block MJ, MN and MP, which were constructed circa 1995. Heating and domestic water services for the three blocks is currently derived from a district heating system. The heating system plant is located within a plantroom in block MN with LTHW heating and domestic water services routed underground in formed concrete ducts to serve blocks MJ and MP. The heating plant system is circa 24 years old and would deem to be nearing the end of its useful life. Under this contract the contractor shall construct two new boiler houses at Block MJ & MP. The existing utilities and services shall be altered and extended to accommodate the new requirements. On completion of the works at Blocks MJ & MP the existing boilers house at Block MN will be stripped out and new mechanical plant installed, tested, and commissioned. The Contractor shall provide the Works in accordance with the Employer’s Requirements as set out in the Employer’s Requirements (Document 2 of the ITT Documentation) and the Contract. Tenderers shall include within their Commercial Submission (Document 4 of the ITT Documentation) all sums required to provide the Works in accordance with the Contract. The works comprises of the following: · Construction of two new boiler houses at Blocks MJ and MP. · Mechanical alterations to the existing boiler house at Block MN. · Mechanical installation and fit out of three boiler houses. · Alterations to existing services and Utilities. · Reinstatement and making good, disturbed surfaces. All adjacent pedestrian/vehicular access routes will remain operational for the duration of the works. All works to be carried out within normal working hours (8.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday) unless otherwise agreed with the University.
