The Active Education team are commissioned by Corporate Health & Safety Department to provide the following services/support to Community schools and those who have purchased a Health & Safety/Building Service SLA with the H&S team:Educational visits/Outdoor Education Advisory role Provide training, support and monitoring of all Educational Visits undertaken within the Borough, ensuring safe practice. • Provide telephone/email support to schools in relation to the safe planning and running of educational visits in line with LBC policy. • Approve educational visits in line with LBC policy and guidelines. • Provide updated policy guidance to schools as required. • Provide specialist updates to schools as required. • Advise and inform schools of any changes in practice recommended as a result of national/local incidents/accidents. • Ensure risk assessments, SLA’s and third party provider forms are in place for all Educational visits involving school swimming lessons undertaken by Community schools and those who have purchased a H&S team SLA, and monitor the quality of the school swimming provision. • Maintain, manage and update the Evolve site as necessary. • Maintain membership of the Outdoor Education Advisors Panel (OEAP) and attend national and regional meetings and training PE Advisory role, including PE related Health & Safety advice • Attend meetings as appropriate to ensure regular updates are given • Provide specialist PE advice and support to the Health and Safety team relating to accident investigations as required. • Provide specialist PE statutory health and safety advice to schools as required. • Provide specialist PE related health and safety updates to schools as required. • Advise and inform schools of any changes in practice recommended as a result of national/local incidents/accidents • Signpost schools to appropriate training courses to meet statutory qualifications e.g. trampolining, rugby.
