Purchase of Wattbikes

Tender description

The Authority purchased 16 Wattbikes to provide an off the feet assessments. Firefighters undergo cardiovascular fitness testing every six months via the treadmill walking test, bleep test, step test and fireground fitness test – all weight bearing exercises. Firefighters who suffer lower limb injuries and surgery often return to duties with the capability to do the job but struggle with our modalities of fitness testing. For example, a fused ankle will result in severe loss of ankle dorsiflexion making the treadmill test very difficult yet still able to do the job of a firefighter.
