EDC/2021/3250 JOHN MUIR WAY PATH IMPROVEMENTS

Tender description

The Council are seeking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified Contractor to improve the quality of the path network along the length, 4500m, of the John Muir Way between Kilsyth Road, Kirkintilloch and Rowantree Terrace, Lennoxtown. The extent of the Works are summarised as follows: -Excavate existing DBM path -Remove existing tree roots -Dispose of materials to tip off site -Installation of root barrier system -Minor drainage works all associated groundworks -Resurfacing and profiling with Ultitrec or similar high quality semi-bound material, to a width of 2.5m where possible -Installation of timber edging at both sides of the path -Protection of areas of Japanese Knotweed in a safe manner -Protection of the works including the safeguarding of the site, works, products, materials etc. -Provision of temporary welfare accommodation for use by the contractor -Removal of rubbish, debris and on completion -Cutting back of overhanging trees and scraping back of encroaching vegetation -Associated landscaping -Installation of 45m of handrail at various points along route to increase user safety.
