Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length Contract will be let in 6 month increments, up to 23 months. Latest start date Monday 4 April 2022 Maximum Day Rate £600 plus VAT (Including agency fees) Who Speclialist Work With The existing team is comprised of contract and Civil Service resources. The specialist will be expected to be embedded into the Digital team as well as working with the other members of the business. What Specialists Work On •Implement high-level technical requirements in a reliable, scalable, and performant way •Provide coaching and mentoring to more junior colleagues •Ensure due technical consideration is given to make processes repeatable, scalable, and secure •Have a deep technical knowledge and experience in DevOps environments, providing support to delivery teams and solving complex problems •Adopt current, established ways of working and advise on improving them. The specialist will be pro-active in identifying areas to improve. •Be transparent and collaborative when making decisions •Share knowledge and experience with other team members •Be able to work with clients with low technical expertise Skills & Experience • 3+ years in a hands-on platform engineer / devops / sysadmin role • Significant practical experience and detailed technical knowledge of: RedHat-based Linux distributions • Significant practical experience and detailed technical knowledge of: Containers and container orchestration • Significant practical experience and detailed technical knowledge of: Terraform • Significant practical experience and detailed technical knowledge of: Git • Significant practical experience and detailed technical knowledge of: Jenkins including writing Jenkinsfiles • Significant practical experience and detailed technical knowledge of: managing infrastructure as code, catering for multiple environment differences • Demonstrable experience with the below or similar: Puppet • Demonstrable experience with the below or similar: Ansible • Demonstrable experience with the below or similar: Hashicorp Vault • Demonstrable experience with the below or similar: Coding in Python • Demonstrable experience with the below or similar: Supporting Java applications • Provide a CV for the candidate being submitted to DS_PMO_Mailbox@disclosurescotland.gov.scot before the closing date. Nice to Haves • Experience with any or all of: Terragrunt, Foreman, Icinga, Nexus, FreeIPA, Splunk • Experience supporting the build, deployment production support of Java applications • Experience building secure solutions on Kubernetes, ideally AWS EKS • Worked in a GitOps-driven environment • Able to demonstrate they have worked in regulated environments (eg, finance, government) • Able to demonstrate mentoring colleagues in automation, security, and reliability, within a DevOps context • Demonstrable experience of identifying manual processes suitable for automation • Existing SC clearance Work Location Work remotely for now, when office opens, work will be at the below address and specialist may have to attend this office address as required. It is likely a large proportion of the week will be remote working. 1 Pacific Quay Glasgow G51 1DZ Working Arrangments • The specialist will be working remotely to start. It is expected we will return to the office on a part time basis/as required. • The specialist will be expected to attend meetings using MS Teams or once office working resumes, face to face. • Make use of collaborative tooling (Slack, MS Teams, Miro, Confluence and Jira). • The specialist will be pro-active Security Clearance Must have BPSS or SC Clearance to begin work. Must be willing to go through SC clearance if not already in place.
