Dun Laoghaire Harbour West Pier Inner Wall Repair Project

Tender description

The West Pier in Dun Laoghaire Harbour is over 150 years old. The Pier is circa 1.3km long, and comprises an inner sea well, two levels with pedestrian access, an upper wall to the West side of the pedestrian walkways and a sloping revetment down into the waters of Dublin Bay. The West Pier is finished at the seaward end with a pier roundhead, which includes a lighthouse. In 2021 a detailed survey of the West Pier was produced for the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. This survey identified any defects, quantified these defects and categorized the defects in terms of importance to enable a future work plan to be developed for maintenance of the West Pier. Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council now propose to appoint a Marine Engineering Contractor a repair a section of the Inner Sea Wall, From the Seabed to the Pier Deck Level. The targeted section is approx. 420m in length. Vehicular access to the West Pier is via the single carriageway road, named Accommodation Road. Vehicular Access onto the West Pier itself is possible through prior arrangement with the Dun Laogahire Harbour Police / Harbour Operations Manager. The West Pier is a protected structure.
