Tender description

The NHS Wales Collaborative was established in 2015 to work on behalf of NHS Wales, and in support of Welsh Government. Through collaboration, engagement, facilitation and empowerment, our teams are working to improve NHS Wales’s services across organizational boundaries, and improve the quality of care for patients. Background to the requirement. Between 10% and 20% of women and up to 10% of men will develop poor mental health during pregnancy or within the first year after having a baby (Bauer et al., 2014). Women are 23 times more likely to be admitted to psychiatric unit after the birth of a child. In 2016, WG provided £1.5million to develop Perinatal Mental Health (PNMH) services that were equitable across Wales. In January 2019 – The National Clinical Lead for Perinatal Mental Health role commenced, the aim of this role being to: Lead the Perinatal Mental Health Clinical Network, providing national leadership, coordination and expertise for the further development of perinatal mental health services and workforce; Develop quality standards, care pathways, professional competencies and training resources; Promote of positive infant mental health and prevention of perinatal mental health problems; Develop an appropriately trained workforce Collect and analyse agreed data 58 perinatal mental infant mental health champions were successfully trained last year and our aim is to continue the roll out of an All Wales training programme. The purpose of this procurement is to create 60 more local perinatal and infant mental health champions. As well as up skilling the workforce against national evidence-based standards, lead to service transformation through the creation of a new level of place-based leaders in perinatal and infant mental health. Furthermore, it can inspire, innovate and advance local interagency working, progress effective integration of care pathways and build community capacity.
