Tender description

The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (DHLGH) is responsible for the conservation and management of natural habitats and species and the protection of biological diversity in Ireland. The breeding population of Curlew is currently a red-listed species of high conservation concern. The population his undergone significant population and distribution decline since the 1980s. The population was last estimated at 138 breeding pairs. Robust, contemporary data on this species’ population size and exact distribution is essential to the implementation of effective conservation programmes. Thus, DHLGH now invites tenders for the coordination and delivery of a breeding Curlew survey in 2021. Survey work to determine the number and location of breeding pairs needs to start circa 1st April, and therefore the minimum time limit for receipt of tenders has been reduced from 30 days to 21 days. A detailed specification of the technical requirements is set out in the RfT document.
