Depot Protection System

Tender description

Iarnród Éireann are seeking expressions of interest from suitable specialist vendors for the design and supply of Depot Protection Systems in its maintenance depots, to alert staff to the movement of trains within CME maintenance buildings and depots. The project will require provision of new systems in Inchicore Running Shed and Connolly Valeting Plant, as well as the option to potentially increase the scope to include additional locations over the term of this contract. It should be noted that Irish Rail intends to rely on this notice should additional requirements arises. Each of the Depot Protection Systems will include, at the minimum, the following functionality: • Visual and audible warning system to alert personnel, contractors or others working inside CME buildings and maintenance depots of a pending train movement. • Treadle switches that can interact with the DPS. This will allow for automatic detection of approaching trains and activate the warning beacons and klaxons; • Powered wheel stops and/or de-railers with optical obstruction sensors. • Wheel stop status indicators (signals) to indicate to drivers when it is safe to proceed and complete inbound and outbound movements. • Remote Access and monitoring. • Shunt signals to control movements into and out of depots • Ability to prevent train movements from taking place on designated roads
