Award of 701_0772 Geotechnical Works at Pucks Glen

Tender description

Pucks Glen is one of the most popular trails in Argyll Forest Park and is a key destination in Cowal. The trail leads users along a narrow path next to a fast flowing burn in a steep gorge. The trail is often cited by the Visitor Safety Group as an example of where trails can be built and maintained in higher risk localities. In recent months there has been evidence of some movement of stumps above the gorge and a stability survey was commissioned to assess safety and maintenance requirements. In late 2020 a full geotechnical and hydrological survey was undertaken in Pucks Glen to assess and identify the key risks and remedial work required in the glen. The resultant report recommended 5 remedial works identified as part of Stage 1 remedial works required to enable the safe reopening of the trail. In respect of the above, FLS require geotechnical works to be undertaken to reduce risk to enable safe usage of the Pucks Glen Trail.
