Barnsley Council wishes to commission a service(s) which will support service users in the management of their Direct Payment from the Local Authority / Partner organisations A direct payment is money paid to service users who have been assessed as having eligible needs (under the Care Act 2014 or within the policy on direct payments for healthcare), or someone else acting on their behalf. Direct payment support services are the advice and administration that people need to manage their direct payments to meet their care and support needs. The overarching aims of the service are to promote empowerment, independence and proportionate support and reduce dependency on formal ongoing support arrangements.
