Tender description
The Contracting Authority has already exercised its option to extend the Initial 2-year term by no more than two years by granting a 1-year extension and wishes to grant a further extension of 1 year and 3 months, exceeding the maximum permitted extension period by three months. The further 3 months are necessary in order to bring the contract into line with the academic year cycle and the launch on 1st August 2022 of an entirely new contract which will be the subject of a full public procurement procedure commencing in mid to late 2021, (subject to funding). The cumulative value of the original contract as extended pursuant to its terms is £32,055,779 (i.e. approx. £8,000,000 per annum). The estimated value of the final three-month extension is £2,000,000. Therefore the total value of the permitted 12 month extension and the additional three month extension is £10,000,000. The contract provides the following services designed to improve the quality and capacity of Level 3 Mathematics provision post-16 and to stimulate post-16 student demand for level 3 qualifications, particularly among girls and in targeted opportunity areas: - measures to increase participation and attainment in level 3 mathematics through targeted support to students, teachers, schools and colleges most in need - high quality professional development, support and resources for teachers to teach AS/A level mathematics, further mathematics and Core Maths. - assisting schools and colleges to scale up Core Maths provision, to increase the number of students in 16-19 state funded schools and colleges studying the qualification. This notice is for the extension of current service support and associated systems and resources to schools and colleges pursuant to the existing contract terms to the end of academic year 2021/2022 prior to the introduction of a new and openly procured contract programme due to be launched on 1st August 2022. The contract aims and requirements remain the same, namely to (a) embed high quality teaching methods and pedagogy (b) increase the uptake and participation in A and AS Level mathematics, A & AS level further mathematics and level 3 core maths qualifications (c) improve quality of teaching and d) increase the number of students studying STEM degrees.
