Tender description

The purpose of this project is to provide a defined cycling and pedestrian route from the Royal Canal Greenway, guiding users into Longford town centre in support of its position as a tourism destination. Generally following the route of the filled in canal in Longford town, from the greenway alongside the Royal Canal Spur south of the town crossing under the Irish Rail underpass north of Farneyoogan Estate, along Canal View through Harbour Square and onto Market Square west and the town core. and terminating at the greenway alongside the Royal Canal Spur south of the town. Works will coordinate and align with ongoing urban realm projects in the town centre. The existing car park in Harbour Square will be transformed into a new urban recreation space in the town centre to provide a meeting place for residents, a new performance space for public gatherings and events, an area for tourists to stop and orientate themselves when they enter the town, and a new reflecting the heritage of the canal basin to create the best possible first impression for visitors to the town. The works will include but will not be limited to: Construction of new urban space in a paved amenity area Construction of approximately 1km of 2-3m wide cycle lane and pedestrian path Manage erection of bespoke tensile fabric structure Construciton of stormwater drainage facilities Roadworks Erection of new signage Erection of new traffic signals Street lighting Landscaping Lot 232114: Tender for Longford Royal Canal Spur Gateway The work will include but is not limited to: - - Construction of a new urban space in a paved amenity area - Construction of approximately 1km of 2-3m wide cycle lane and pedestrian path - Manage the erection of a bespoke tensile fabric structure - Supply and erection of public lighting - Construction of stormwater drainage facilities - Roadworks - Erection of new road and information signage - Landscaping
