Mechanical Works (Heating Upgrade Works) at St John's Senior School, Arklow

Tender description

The school is mainly a single storey building with a small 2-storey building near the road. There are a total 16 classrooms, SET rooms, a GP Hall, circulation and admin areas, and the new SNU. The boiler plant consists of 2 No. 170kW Chappee gas fired boilers, installed in 2008. The boiler plant is thus 12 years old and in reasonable condition. The radiators and pipework however were not replaced or upgraded in 2008, and are approx.. 35 years old. A significant amount of the flow and return pipework is buried in the concrete floor, and is now leaking. The scope of the works will be as follows: • Decommissioning, stripping out and removal from site of the existing LPHW Flow and Return Pipework and existing radiators. • Decommissioning, stripping out and removal from site some of the existing gas pipework in the boiler plant room. • Replace DDC Monitoring system (monitors and reports faults on boilers, pumps etc) • Supply and Installation of new Radiators, 2-port valves and Flow and Return Pipework as per drawings • Supply and installation of Gas pipework in the boiler room. • Supply and installation of 1 new automatic fill unit and expansion vessel. • Insulation of pipework. • See drawings for areas where these works are to be carried out. • All associated electrical works for the project. • All builders’ works associated with the above. See ‘Builders Work Schedule’ in ‘Volume C1 – Pricing Schedule’ for further details. • All associated mechanical works as indicated on the tender documents. • Rubbish removal from site during the duration of the contract. • All other items as indicated in drawings and detailed in specifications.
