INTEGRATED DESIGN TEAM (IDT) FOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECT AT BALLYMONEY MUSIC CENTRE

Tender description

Radius Homes Limited (Radius) is seeking to select an architect led, multidisciplinary design team to lead the redevelopment of an existing building to provide circa 12 CAT 1 social housing units in Ballymoney, at the former Music Centre, 23 Charles Street. This design contest therefore seeks a redevelopment that will provide high quality housing for families and individuals which will fully integrate with the surrounding area and bring a currently vacant building back into use. The proposal should create an innovative, high quality housing offer that reflects the unique characteristics of the existing building and its surroundings, while also challenging the perception of social housing design. Radius expect to achieve approximately 10 x 3 person 2 bed and 2 x 2 person CAT1 units within the existing structure, however, the exact mix will be determined through this competition. As the Music Centre is a listed structure proposals should follow the principle of retaining and refurbishing the building to comply with the housing association guide and prevailing local and regional planning policy and guidance. Proposals should address the necessity to improve the thermal efficiency of the building.
