Tender description

The Dryslwyn Community shop wishes to appoint an architect with appropriate professional track record to develop the design scheme for a new build community shop. This is needed to relocate the existing very successful enterprise that has been running for some 11 years. The task is to develop the new community shop design specification through an Architectural Feasibility Study (RIBA stages 1 and 2) driven and derived by ensuring processes that engage and involve the bilingual community. This is a significant project for this community, and one for which a potential development site has already been identified and is available. The design will act as the starting point for seeking project capital funding to deliver the scheme. Its aim is to create a resource with the community at its heart, which it is motivated to support, and be proud of. As such it must be a welcoming, viable, and effective facility that meets the needs of the rural population. A clear focus on low embedded carbon, high energy-efficiency, and adaptability will be important. It is envisaged that the architect appointed is likely to be engaged to deliver subsequent RIBA stages of the full scheme, subject to Community Shop Directors and Project Team successfully securing sufficient funding for capital build and development. Tender documents setting out the background, details, and requirements may be accessed via the documents tab on the sell2wales portal. Questions and requests for clarification should be routed through the sell2wales Q+A function. Bids must be submitted via the sell2wales postbox facility by 12.00pm on the date as specified in the AFS invitation to bid document. Suppliers are advised to allow adequate time for uploading documents and for any electronic responses well in advance of the closing time to avoid last minute problems.
