Supply of Parts, Wholegoods & Service for John Deere and Stihl Machinery

Tender description

This contract is for the supply of parts, wholegoods & service from a manufacturers sole supplier (OEM) in our area for the John Deere brand and also to cover Stihl equipment and parts which the supplier is an agent for. These two brands cover 80% of our machinery in the Parks & Countryside service. Manufacturer dealerships are not usually allowed to sell goods and services outside their allotted region or area so going to another agent is not generally possible When repairs and maintenance to equipment are necessary most of the parts required are only available from the manufacturer and pattern parts are not generally available. We therefore need to use the manufacturers sole supplier. As there is no spare equipment available within the council fleet and most repairs not being able to be planned there is an immediate requirement for parts usually same day or following day, particularly when the machine has broken down on site or the middle of a golf course or somewhere similar. Therefore there is no suitable, practical or operational alternative but to use an OEM supplier. I intend for this exception to contract rules to run until the 31st December 2021 by which time a full contract process will have been completed for a multi-year contract and provision. Similar contracts will also need to be completed for all our other major brands of equipment that have sole suppliers such as Toro, Trimax etc.
