Ecology services to assist in implementing the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s Forestry Programme

Tender description

DAFM will require services to be provided in the following areas; i). Ornithology ii). Botany iii). Zoology iv). Fresh Water Ecology/ Hydrology (including surface hydrology and hydromorphology) DAFM currently has a backlog of licence applications in the area of afforestation, felling, roads and aerial fertilisation. The following describes the work that will be required in dealing with these files and represents the primary area of work covered by this tender. Note that this list is not exhaustive however: i. Undertake the screening and (where required) appropriate assessment of forestry licence application. ii. To review and comment on internal decisions concerning the application of AA, EIA and other ecological and environmental processes. iii. To review and comment on internal systems, SOPs and guidance involved in the application of AA, EIA and other ecological and environmental processes. iv. Evaluation of ecological reports, including site surveys, species surveys, Natura Impact Statements and ecological components of EISs and SEA Environmental Reports. This will include the delivery of appropriate outputs as required. v. The assessment of in-combination and cumulative effects within the AA and EIA context. This will also include the delivery of appropriate outputs as required. vi. Undertaking of ecological field work to inform the DAFM’s evaluation of individual applications. vii. Other ecology related work that will be required.
