<p>The Veiled Landscape project is operating within the Miner2Major Landscape Partnership Scheme and seeks to better understand the archaeology of the Miner2Major project area. To this end, the project has recently commissioned a LiDAR survey of the entire project area at a 0.16m resolution, making it the highest resolution survey of this area. Not only is it anticipated this survey will help specialists identify previously unidentified archaeological features within the area, it will also serve as a case study for the value of high-resolution LiDAR data in conducting both archaeological and environmental landscape management work. The next phase of the Veiled Landscape project is to host training activities for local volunteers and university students on ground truthing archaeological features. We are looking for an individual to join our team as the contract project archaeologist. By using the LiDAR data and by liaising with project landscape partners, sites of archaeological interest will be identified by the contract project archaeologist and ground truthed by leading and training a team of volunteers. Delivery will take place with groups in and surrounding the scheme area, outlined in green on the attached map. A highly professional report of the ground truthing results, which incorporates the integration of the new archaeological data with the LiDAR data, will be written by the Contract Project Archaeologist at the end of each ground truthing event.</p> Keywords: Archaeological services Geological prospecting apparatus
