Tender description

Microsoft Licences and Support Contract: The Council currently has approximately 7400 staff located over 250 locations, with a mixed technology estate of approximately 10,000 hardware devices split between servers, laptops, desktops, tablets, and mobile phones. In some cases, this also includes users with devices who not on our payroll, e.g., Contractors and Agency staff and third-party partners where it is necessary for them to have access to our platform through our licencing arrangements. In addition, there are approximately 300 users (and an associated quantity of endpoints) who qualify for Academic pricing (MAES colleagues). There are around 300 applications in use, a large proportion of which can be accessed through a Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure. Much of the Council’s IT estate is underpinned by Microsoft technology. As examples: use of Microsoft Office is still prevalent to support several dependent applications and processes (including Microsoft Access). Windows Server, SQL, Windows client OS, Active Directory and Remote Desktop Services continue to play a critical role in the delivery of services.
