Limits of Acceptable Change Study: The Wash and North Norfolk Coast

The Wash and North Norfolk coast are under increasing pressure from new housing developments and a growing tourism industry. These need to be carefully monitored and managed, to ensure that conservation features within The Wash and North Norfolk Coast Marine Protected Area (MPA) network and Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) are not negatively impacted. To this end, The Wash & North Norfolk Marine Partnership (WNNMP), Norfolk Coast Partnership (NCP) and PROWAD LINK* project wish to conduct a collaborative Limits of Acceptable Change (LAC) study around The Wash and North Norfolk coast. This will yield data on acceptable levels of visitor presence at local nature sites/attractions and enable the development of sector-specific, strategic and innovative recommendations that can be used to guide future planning/decision-making. *PROWAD-LINK is an Interreg North Sea Region project funded by the European Regional Development Fund with local funding from Norfolk County Council. Notably, funding will not be affected by Brexit. Further information on the project can be found here. 'Protect and Prosper' forms the foundation for this project; the natural environment around The Wash and North Norfolk coast needs to be protected, whilst enabling local people and businesses to proper through economic opportunities.
