Ysgol Eirias External Window and Door Replacement to Gym/Hall Block

The works comprised of the removal of asbestos containing panels within the window frames and replacement of existing external windows and panels including external doors and frames to the Gym/Hall Block at Ysgol Eirias, Eirias Rd, Colwyn Bay LL29 7SP Conwy County Borough Council were seeking a contractor to remove the asbestos, replace external windows, insulated panels and doors and frames along with associated works in a secondary school. Existing frames were constructed of either timber or uPVC. The successful contractor will be responsible for all aspects of the works including temporary works in providing mess facilities, scaffold and working platforms where necessary, protecting internal and external finishes and details. Site set-up with secure compound including office, welfare and toilets with appropriate storage for materials, equipment and parking. The Contractor was required to make adequate provisions and additional provisions due to the Coronavirus (Covid-19). The works were to be carried out façade by façade with each façade being completed prior to moving onto the next phase of works. Removal with care, refitting including containment, connections and recommissioning of intruder alarm contacts, emergency lighting fittings internally and externally, external security lighting, electric extract fan fitted to glazing, removal and refitting of extract ducting and grill to Kitchen air handling unit. CCTV cameras and intruder sensors. Stripping back and refitting existing ceiling grid and replacement of ceiling tiles as required. Stripping back of lead apron flashings and built up felt roofing edge detail forming drip detail to roof. Provision of warrantees, guarantees and as built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals. The Contractor will be required as part of the Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan carry out all works with additional measures due to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The School will be occupied by Teaching Staff. There will also be Pupils whose parents are front line Key Workers attending the school and there will be a number of Teachers and Support Staff working on site. The opportunity to carry out the work with this reduced occupation will be from 28th July to 2nd September and for two weeks at half-term October 2020. Reference appendices in respect of Guidance.
