Wool Quality Testing for Menter Mon's 'Made with Wool / Gwnaed a Gwlan' Project

Tender description

3.1 This is an ambitious project and will require ongoing technical support from an organisation with extensive experience in the wool industry to carry out the following: • Wool Quality Sampling and Testing (i.e. Importance of testing Mean Fibre Diameter along the entire fibre length, plus other relevant tests to determine wool fibre properties. Fleeces from Welsh Farms will be analysed for quality to pilot and demonstrate practical methods of determining quality, and to highlight the impact of variables such as breed, farm type, diet and shearing on wool quality. To provide farmers and users in the wool supply chain with the knowledge and demographic of wool types and quality that are available across Wales.
