Removal, Appraisal and decontamination by irradiation of records currently stored in Sligo Gaol

Tender description

Sligo County Council require the services of the tendered service to remove 821 boxes of records from the Old Gaol in Sligo and appraise the material as necessary. Records must be moved to the adjoining workspace below for appraisal. Local authority records which are of archival value must be separated from a) any sensitive records which Sligo County Council are not responsible for and will be transferred to a third party, and b) refuse material. Records which are sensitive should be clearly marked and moved to an area designated by the County Archivist. Records which are not of archival value will also be clearly marked and moved to a separate area. All local authority material of archival value should be surface cleaned with brushes, packed into crates and a basic inventory of each crate created. Decontamination by irradiation for the remaining records will need to be organized by the tendered party. Records will be transported securely by the tenderers to the irradiation facility, and tenderers will also need to arrange for the irradiated records to be returned to a new location in Sligo Town. The contents of the crate must correspond to the inventory lists when returned to Sligo.
