Burnham Beeches - Middle pond works Remove pond outlet pipe and valve chamber. Puddle clay infilling where pipe and chamber were removed to ensure new clay forms watertight bond with existing embankment. • Remove overflow pipes from the dam and replace with a concrete box section, ensuring a water tight seal is formed between the box section and the surrounding clay. • Remove broken concrete on the downstream face of the dam embankment • Build overflow channel on downstream face of the dam (to a 1:3 slope). Build the surrounding ground up to drain to the overflow channel. Surface the overflow channel and surrounding ground with Armorloc. Construct a stilling basin at the toe of the dam to prevent future erosion. • Raise the dam crest by 100mm, except in the armoured area. Ensure the entire surface is level.
