Askeaton Undergrounding of Services

Tender description

The Project is located on Main Street (R518), Askeaton, County Limerick between the entrance to Askeaton GAA Grounds on the eastern end of the village to the junction with William Street on the western end of the village. The works are located within the historic town of Askeaton (Recorded Monument LI011-092001) .The works are in the vicinity of the Castle a National Monument (No.201) in State ownership. Ministerial Consent has been sought by the Client for the works to be carried out overseen & monitored by a suitably qualified Archaeologist (as supplied by the contractor for the duration of the works). This project involves the undergrounding of Electricity and Telecommunications Infrastructure, the removal of ESB pole mounted Public Lighting and the design and construction of alternative public lighting with an emphasis on building mounted public lighting where possible. Ducting is also to be designed and installed for possible future traffic signal controlled junctions in the vicinity of the Castle Bridge. The proposed works include the following: • Installation of a new LED Public Lighting Scheme, including columns and lanterns, power supply ducting, chambers, micro-pillars and mini-pillars. • Grounding of Overhead ESB Lines and Eircom cables, Installation of chambers. Surrounding of other shallow services with concrete. • New footpaths are to be constructed at the western square including 3 number uncontrolled crossings. • Traffic Management throughout the works will be critical to the works progress. The works are expected to commence in Early January 2022. The expected construction period is 7 weeks.
