Tender description

This tender is to commission a contractor to design and install a rainwater garden in the Baltic Corridor at the Upper Pitt Street Location. The rainwater garden will be located on the wide stretch of footway from the junction of Nelson Street to the dead end where Pitt Street meets Cornwallis Street. The site is adopted highway and has adjacent residential properties to the south. Access to these properties to be retained at all times and should not be affected by the final design of the rainwater garden. Access to St James Neighbourhood Centre also needs to be retained and the rear gate to the car park to be kept accessible. There is currently a development area to the North of the site and liaison with developers may be required whilst installing the works. The site hording on the pavement will be removed before the works begin and be completed as soon as possible thereafter. The footway land is owned by Liverpool City Council and the final scheme will be subject to approval from Highways. The contractor will be responsible for ensuring any approvals or licences will be in place before commencement of the works. As the URBAN GreenUP project is part of a research and innovation project the design should incorporate innovative features both in its design and planting as well as the opportunity to facilitate long term monitoring.
Keywords: Landscape Design, Landscape Installation, Raingarden, Rain Water, Drainage
