The Department of Sport and Exercise Science of Waterford Institute of Technology are looking to acquire a respiratory gas analysis system capable of assessing and reporting respiratory gas exchange at rest and during exercise. The system is to be used for teaching purposes on a number of our undergraduate courses. Additionally the system will be used in both undergraduate and post-graduate research projects for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Summary of Requirements • A respiratory gas analysis system capable of assessing Volume of Oxygen per unit of time (vO2) and Volume of Carbon Dioxide per unit of time (vCO2) and reporting real time changes in these outputs. • A software system for recording, viewing, filtering data which is compatible with Microsoft windows and is capable of exporting data to a usable excel format. • A Cart or Trolley appropriate for transporting the unit between rooms • Packing, Shipment, Installation and Warranty Potential applications include Assessment of Maximal Oxygen consumption, Assessment of Resting Metabolic Rate and Assessment of Respiratory Exchange Ratio at various exercise intensities.
