Tender description
The Environment Agency (EA) and Natural Resources Wales (NRW) operate a large number of monitoring sites throughout England and Wales. The EA operate six telemetry systems based on old regional boundaries. The management of these systems is via a national service consisting of three telemetry hubs each supporting two systems. The management and maintenance of field equipment is carried out in fourteen area-based teams. The EA is in the process of adopting the use of DNP3, WITs DNP3 protocols and IP packet switched data communications to field telemetry outstations. NRW operate in a similar manner to the EA and wish to adapt the use of IP packet switched communication in the future.
