Repair and calibration of emissions test equipment

Tender description

This contract is below the threshold specified under the Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations 2011. Babcock Land Defence Limited, acting as the agent to the UK Ministry of Defence (UK MoD), has awarded a single source contract to Gemco Services Ltd (Gemco) for the Calibration and Repair of Emissions Test Equipment, solely OM1500 and OM4500 Exhaust Emissions Analysers, for a duration of 1 year with 1 additional year that may be taken at the Authority's discretion. The Authority considers that it can award the contract only to Gemco on the basis of technical reasons. The OM1500 and OM4500 Exhaust Emissions Analysers are commercially obsolete, and the purpose of this contract is to provide interim repair cover while the replacement fleet of equipment is sourced and brought into service, currently planned for FY 20/21. The OM1500 & OM4500 Exhaust Emission Analysers have been extensively supported by Gemco. Gemco have, through this support, amassed a supply of serviceable spares which are no longer available to procure on the open market due to obsolescence. All historical calibration data supporting the equipment fleets traceability is owned and maintained by Gemco.
