Tender For The Supply Of Deep Mulching Works At Forsinard Flows Reserve Areas to be deep mulched have a mixture of surface brash, lightly mulched brash mats, young conifer regeneration and stumps. All this material, including the plough throws and root plates will be mulched down to the original surface level. In order to get the best finish possible, the contractor will have to take more time to ensure consistent and fine mulching of material across the entire area. Greater care will be required to avoid damage to machines caused by striking any surface geology. Areas with large stumps and brash pose obstacles to machinery when undertaking hydrological restoration, so deep mulching also helps to facilitate subsequent furrow blocking. In a similar way mulching will bring the peat surface closer to the water table once the furrows are also blocked.
