The cold rooms in the Immunology, Microbiology and Biochemistry laboratories in the LabMed Directorate are used to store an inventory of test reagents and patient specimens. They hold an extensive supply of expensive and diverse reagents to service internal SJH and external source patients. The capacity for storing high volumes of reagents has increased due to the implementation of new tests for investigations and patient management over the years. Each cold room also holds a high volume of routine patient specimens. The current coldrooms in the three departments listed above are over 40 years old and require upgrading and expansion
