2.1.1 Background The Local Enterprise Office Kildare has the primary objective of promoting economic and entrepreneurial activity in the county and to develop local indigenous enterprise potential in the micro-business sector through the creation of an enterprise culture, the provision of advice, management training, mentoring, networking and a range of financial supports. 2.1.2 Craft Network As an established organisation working within the SME sector, Local Enterprise Office Kildare is fully aware of the difficulties faced by craft businesses operating within the corporate environment. It is envisaged that the Kildare Craft Network will have the aim of supporting all craft business based in Kildare and to provide a forum to share their experiences, network and to discuss topical issues. This dedicated programme will be aimed at craft based entrepreneurs and is designed to promote the role of craft business within the Kildare region. The programme aims to empower and motivate craft businesses to succeed in entrepreneurship and self-employment in the county. Networking provides an extremely cost-effective way of promoting business. Face to face networking and online networking can build a profile. By networking with the right people, an owner/manager of a small start-up or developing business can exploit opportunities that they would not otherwise even be aware of. In addition, structured business networks can help micro and SME’s to become more innovative and dynamic. Entrepreneurial business networking provides a forum to build businesses relationships, identify, develop or act upon economic opportunities, share information and seek potential business partners for ventures.
