The University is leading an ambitious project to create a National Institute for Quantum Integration (NIQI). This is a cross-UK funding proposal with the aim of accelerating the miniaturisation and cost reduction of quantum hardware, crucial for its penetration into volume applications. To be successful, NIQI must serve the needs of the quantum industrial community and leverage significant funding from this community to ensure the long term sustainability of the Institute. NIQI must therefore be structured to ensure its workstreams, outputs, engagement and delivery model meet industry requirements meaning industry partners see an investment in NIQI as good value for money.
