Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Unit – The 'Safer' Groupwork Programme

<p>The Greater Manchester violence reduction unit (VRU) supports the effective rehabilitation and risk management of young people and adults involved in crime. Ethnic disproportionality is a persistent feature of youth and adult justice system and well evidenced at national and regional levels. The Lamy Review and HMIP inspection reports have highlighted gaps in targeted intervention for Young People from Black, Asian and Minority (BAME) communities. In recognition of this disparity, The VRU has supported the Great Manchester Probation Services to develop the &lsquo;Safer&rsquo; group work intervention for young adult BAME Offenders (18-25 year olds) The VRU looking to commission a community-based service to work in collaboration with the Greater Manchester Probation to co-deliver this intervention this programme.
