Provision of Forging Expertise

Tender description

The University require a consultant to provide specialist Forging knowledge and advice to support the development of the Advanced Forming Research Centres’s (AFRC) FutureForge capability through participation in projects and physical forging trials alongside existing AFRC staff members. The consultant will support and guide the operation of the AFRC’s FutureForge equipment (consisting of an open die, isothermal and closed die capable hydraulic forging press, an electric furnace and a gas furnace) across a range of research and development projects, providing expert guidance to manufacturing engineers, technicians and knowledge exchange staff working within the projects. Working with existing staff, the Consultant will support the development of the centre’s technical knowledge and capability on the tri modes of forging and build the centre’s portfolio of practical knowledge of forging and its associated technology. The consultant will act as the liaison with industry customers, capitalising on their expertise and reputation to engage industrial members and customers.
