PMR - Conservation Treatment: Fine Art Collection

Tender description

Paisley Museum cares for a collection of over 350,000 objects. It includes a Recognised Collection of National Significance comprising 1,200 Paisley shawls and extensive Fine Art, Natural History and World Cultures collections. Re-opening in 2023, it will deliver a fully refurbished building and complete redisplay of the collection. Ahead of re-opening, the project will undertake conservation on a number of objects selected for display. Following a condition assessment the museum is seeking a conservator or conservation studio to carry out remedial treatments on paintings and frames from the museum’s Fine Art collection. As part of the Paisley Museum Re-imagined project, Renfrewshire Council area seeking a conservator or conservation studio to carry out remedial treatments on paintings and frames from the museum’s Fine Art collection. The works are predominantly oil paintings from a range of date periods, and most are framed. The frames are in a variety of styles, ranging from ornate gilded frames to simple modern styles, and a small number of works are unframed. The works are a variety of sizes and weights. In the event that the Council require further remedial treatments on paintings, the Council reserves the right to directly appoint the Service Provider appointed for this contract to provide future remedial treatments. The decision to award a contract directly to the appointed Service Provider is at the Council’s sole discretion and will be determined by the Council with consideration to the principles of best value, the Council’s Standing Orders relating to Contracts, the applicable procurement regulations and the capacity of the Service Provider. The Council have 56 paintings in total which require remedial treatments , these are split into two groups. Group 1 contains 17 paintings (maximum budget 40,885 GBP) which is included within this Tender Group 2 contains 39 paintings (maximum budget 34,065 GBP) for information only, the Council reserves the right to directly appoint the Service Provider appointed for this contract to provide future remedial treatments For information only we have included a Painting Summary document for Group 2.
