Education Competency and Career Framework for Midwifery

Health Education England (HEE) exists for one reason only: to support the delivery of excellent healthcare and health improvement to the patients and public of England by ensuring that the workforce of today and tomorrow has the right numbers, skills, values and behaviours, at the right time and in the right place. Originally established as a Special Health Authority in 2012, HEE has been a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) since 1 April 2015. We are looking to commission the development an Education Competency and Career Framework for Midwifery which details the competencies required to deliver high quality service provision to women and their babies at all levels of midwifery practice. The aims of the framework are • to support midwives throughout their careers, • to facilitate progression planning, • to enable the retention of highly valued and skilled staff and • to facilitate workforce transformation. The contract will run from 1 December 2021 to 30 November 2022.
