Farm Business Survey - Farm Performance Data

Tender description

Defra collects data on the financial, physical and environmental performance of farm businesses in England and carries out high level statistical analyses on the data to inform and evaluate policy decisions. The data is currently collected via face to face interviews on farms across England. Defra are exploring alternative data sources and approaches to collecting data more efficiently; one such approach is the acquisition of data that is already being processed in the market for other purposes to replace or supplement survey data and reduce survey burden on farmers. Data that is already being processed in the market could be an efficient way of sourcing data in future. As part of this exploratory exercise Defra ran an Expression of Interest (EoI) seeking responses from the market, to advise what farm performance data could be provided, the depth, scale and coverage.
