Tender description
The Invisible Girls Project at LSHTM needs research services focussed on Child Domestic Workers (CDW) in Myanmar. Outputs will include reports and journal articles. Lot 1: 1. Pilot process evaluation A pilot process evaluation with an NGO providing home based digital learning to child labourers in Myanmar, exploring feasibility of implementation with Child Domestic Workers. This evaluation will involve repeated interviews with 20 children, caregivers/employers and NGO staff, totalling 240 interviews. Outputs: evaluation report, journal article. 2. In-depth labour market survey Building off an existing national labour market survey conducted, this component will focus on labour market and training opportunities for Child Domestic Workers in Myanmar. Methods include phone interviews with 40 providers and businesses focusing on Yangon and Mandalay. Output: report. 3. Attitudes study This study will involve 900 surveys and 75 in-depth interviews with Employers, Brokers, the General Public and current/former Child Domestic Workers. Sampling will be conducted via existing networks and methods, including snowball and purposive, and Facebook methods. Messages may be developed and tested with these groups to improve attitudes and perceptions. Outputs: report, journal article. 4. Desk-based research & analysis The Senior Research Associate with expertise in Child Domestic Work will conduct a systematic review and secondary data analyses focussed on these children, to be submitted to a journal special issue led by LSHTM PIs. Output: 2 x journal articles. 5. Household survey A survey of up to 1000 households in Yangon to determine prevalence of Child Domestic Workers may be conducted at a later stage. 6. Ethical approvals using Institutional Review Board for all components.
