Neath Port Talbot Council invite tenders for a parcel of Standing Timber comprised of an estimated 180-300 cubic metres over bark of Corsican Pine situated at: Craig Gwladus Country Park, Penscynor, Ciflrew Neath SA10 8LF There are two adjacent plots of Corsican Pine for sale that are both situated on east-facing steep slopes The dbh (diameter at breast height) of the stems ranges between 27cm and 69cm, with the average being 47cm. Plot A,: these trees are on the lower edge of a stand of beech trees that border a historic tram road and former coal drift-mine workings. There are several historical mining features in close proximity to the stand to which damage must be avoided. There are also many young oak and birch trees along the edge of the stand and at trackside, which are to be retained where possible. There are 13 trees in the plot which need to be felled at 2.5m in height so that we can retain the trunk in situ for wood carving. Plot B: These trees run in a swathe among mature beech and oak trees.
