Whilst gates are primarily utilised as a burglary prevention tool. They also provide other ancillary benefits, such as reducing opportunities for fly tipping, drug dealing and other criminal activities which can occur in alleys and other spaces. Gating has an important role in helping residents to feel safer and reducing the fear of crime in an area.
