Tenders are sought for the supply, delivery and installation of an analytical flow cytometer for University College Dublin (UCD). Flow cytometry is a commonly used technology in cell biology based research. Flow cytometers are used to detect, identify and count specific cell types. Cell types are identified based on certain physical characteristics and on the binding of flourescently labelled tags to proteins on the cell surface or to specific components within the cell. These fluorescent tags are excited by laser light and emit light of a specific wavelength which is measured by the flow cytometer. Cell types are characterised by the specific spectral fingerprint detected and measured by the flow cytometer. Flow cytometry is routinely used in basic research, clinical practical, clinical trials and industry. The Education Procurement Service (EPS) on behalf of University College Dublin (UCD), (the “Contracting Authority”) invites tenders (“Tenders”) to this request for tenders (“RFT”) from economic operators (“Tenderers”) for the supply of the goods and/or services as described in Appendix 1 to this RFT (the “Goods”).
