Tender description

The North End Shipyard, river Hull, is to become a future key visitor attraction and a major part of the delivery of the Hull: Yorkshire's Maritime City (H:YMC) ('Maritime Project'). Once works are completed, the North End Shipyard will become the permanent (dry-dock) home for the newly restored Arctic Corsair trawler, and the newly restored Scotch Derrick dock crane; the NESY site will also feature a newly constructed Visitor Centre building. The works required for this procurement are Dock Civils and Dock Gate works at the North End Shipyard site to ensure that the dock remains dry. The current (old) Dock Gates are obsolete and regularly leak water from the River Hull flooding the NESY dock. It is essential that the NESY dock is maintained in a dry condition to allow for the safe progress of works at the site. The works required will be in two stages:- (i) initial works to install a temporary Dock Gate arrangement to make the NESY dock site both safe and dry; (ii) following completion of works to the Arctic Corsair trawler, this vessel will be floated into the North End Shipyard and lowered on to permanent dock-blocks; the dock will then be drained; following the berthing of the restored trawler, the NESY dock will require works to install new (permanent) Dock Gates, together with a solid wall behind them (dock-side), to permanently and safely seal the NESY dock as a dry dock.
Keywords: Marine Plant, Crane Works, Dock Construction Works, Dock Repair Works, Dock Civils Works, Dock Gate Construction Works
