Tender description

<p>The UK Government has legislated to reduce national carbon emissions to net zero by 2050; locally, the Oxfordshire Energy Strategy includes an objective to reduce countywide greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 (from a 2008 baseline) and set a pathway to net zero by 2050. Meeting these targets will require significant decarbonisation across all sectors and an increased demand upon the electricity network from planned growth, and electrification of heat and transport. At the core will be the transition to a low carbon energy system. Project LEO (Local Energy Oxfordshire), a national demonstrator project part-funded by Innovate UK through the Prospering From the Energy Revolution programme, is exploring the elements needed to deliver a transformative integrated smart local energy system, demonstrating novel local energy markets and innovative funding models for new Distributed Energy Resources (DER). The Energy Mapping Tool will host the spatial data and provide the functionality to support Oxfordshire local authorities and other key signatories to the Oxfordshire Energy Strategy identify where projects and programmes, infrastructure and engagement will support the transition to a zero carbon energy system and deliver the countywide carbon reduction targets set out in the Strategy. The LEO integrated land use map is the first step in providing the spatial intelligence to support energy systems planning in LEO and strategic planning to deliver the countywide carbon emission reduction targets set out in the Oxfordshire Energy Strategy.
