Tender description

The events of the last year have been stark reminders of the deep inequalities that exist in our society. In light of events that have taken place over the last 18 months, the Council has further committed to developing a new Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy which we will produce in partnership with local organisations, community groups, businesses and residents, to address these issues together in a meaningful, focused and sustainable way. The engagement with our communities will be delivered through a series of Community Conversations and a Summit once these have been concluded. To assist the Council in tackling the structural inequalities that are so deep rooted in our society, we are looking for a delivery partner that has ethnographic research expertise to carry out a piece of ethnographic research. We do not wish to be overly prescriptive on the methods for this, but we expect the short, intensive programme of research to involve the recruitment and participation of 10-12 residents. We expect the supplier to provide 10-12 rich content ‘use cases’ that evidences real life experiences of residents in Waltham Forest who experience significant structural inequalities. These should be detailed reports that can be directly used and inputted into the equalities summit. These reports should be creative, and we would welcome non-traditional types of media to help communicate these stories/case studies. We do not wish to be prescriptive regarding what this could look like and would welcome your views. The outputs should provide greater insights into the underlying issues of resident’s experiences. It is left to the supplier to determine how best to convey and present the research.
Keywords: Diversity, Inclusion, Equality
